When I returned from Italy, everyone I knew asked me about the trip. It took me a minute to answer, to gather my thoughts to describe this truly incredible trip. Giovanna and I came to the conclusion that the best way to describe the trip was to say that it was like a dream. We were dreaming for 10 days, and then we woke up. That’s how I feel now, over a month since I’ve returned stateside, that I woke up from a beautiful dream.
I want nothing more than to get on a plane tomorrow and fly back to Rome. Of course I know that living and working in Italy would be different from vacation, but I can’t help myself from thinking about what it would be like to wake up every day to a real cappuccino and cornetto and make my way to work hobbling in heels on the cobblestone and dodging men in tailored suits on Vespas. Until I make it back to Italy, it’s not a bad dream to have in the meantime. 🙂
