New Year, New Travels

I, like most people on the planet, start each new year thinking and hoping it will be the best year yet.  2011 began as one of the first years in my life in which I’m not sure where I’ll be at the end of it.  As I mentioned previously, I am a planner and lack of direction (in all senses of the word) makes me nervous.

The uncertainly I face this year hasn’t however, stopped me from planning new travels in the new year.  This year’s autumn European adventure is going to be Munich for Oktoberfest and Wiesbaden to visit some friends.  Oktoberfest has been on my list to visit for years and seeing as I’m now in the last year of my 20’s, it feels like it’s finally ready to embrace the beer and brat fun times of one of the biggest cultural celebrations on earth.

Now that I know I can travel alone and truly enjoy myself, I may even tack on a trip to my “homeland” – Prague, Czech Republic.  My last name is very distinctive and very characteristically Czech, so I have this fantasy of being welcomed home with open arms the moment I walk into a restaurant or bar.  I’ll let you know how that works out.

And of course, I continue to attempt to convince my mother to make a trip with me to London and Paris… fingers crossed.

While I may have apprehensions about what awaits me in 2011, here’s hoping that I have many exciting trips to look forward to, despite the fact that I may not be able to choose my departure airport at this point. 🙂

  1. It’s going to be a great year, despite uncertainty. From one planner to another — long live some adventure! (notice I said some)
