Ristorante Il Buco

Il Rampa Marina Piccola, 5
Sorrento, Italia

Il Buco is, in a word, splendid.  Tucked in what was an old monastery near the steps to the Marina Piccola, it’s grand yet charming.  Make reservations to sit in the main room under the arch.   The service is attentive and memorable.  The menu contains many variations of tasting menus at 75 Euro including wine pairings.  The wine was so good we asked the waiter to write down the varietal and vintner so we could buy some to take home.  My favorite was the Radici taurasi, a varietal from the aglianico grape that is not exported from Italy.  Divine.  During our dinner we had a lovely pasta with pumpkin, fresh fish and the decadent rhum baba for dessert.  We were also treated to a complimentary sampling of the special desserts, all bite size but as beautiful and tasty as the originals.  Perfect for a special occasion or just to feel special for an evening.
