Sprinkles Cupcakes

780 Lexington Avenue
New York, NY 10065

Sprinkles is the LA-based cupcake outpost just opened in New York near Bloomingdale’s.  I’m not a cupcake connoisseur like my good friend Emily, but of course I do have preferences.  I think Magnolia’s cupcakes are too dry and it baffles me that their red velvet doesn’t have cream cheese frosting.  I love Crumbs but they are a little over the top for anything but a cupcake coma.

I was pleasantly surprised by Sprinkles.  Not just a gimmick, the cupcakes are moist, simple, perfectly sized and delicious – the ones I saved were still moist two days later.  I got a sampling of four cupcakes including the banana dark chocolate, coconut, red velvet and mocha.  My favorite was the banana dark chocolate but the coconut was close behind.  The shop is tiny so the line isn’t as bad as it looks, and the customer service is great.

  1. I heart Sprinkles! So glad the DC and NYC locations are now open. They are the best around, and believe me, I know.

The lemon flavor is my favorite, but also really enjoy the cinnamon sugar for the cupcake fans who aren’t fond of icing.
