When I visited London in May before I moved over, I saw people walking around the city with pink and white paper bakery bags that I was deeply intrigued by. I investigated online and found that the bags belonged to the cupcake palace Hummingbird Bakery, with, how fortuitously, an outlet just down the road from where I was staying. I visited for the first time in June shortly after landing in London and was in love. They make a to-do-for Red Velvet and double chocolate. The seasonal cupcakes changed each day of the week, with my favorite being the coconut and lime flavors. The carrot cake is surprisingly not the best – stick with the others above. This summer they’ve featured an “old-fashioned candy” flavored line with such English standards as rhubarb custard. I’ve yet to try those but may on my next visit. The cutest part? Single cupcakes to go travel out in a takeout box. 🙂
